Dr. H. John Visser – Missouri Podiatrist

Dr. H. John Visser is one of the Podiatric professions’ most decorated physicians. He graduated magna cum laude from Hiram College in Hiram, OH in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. He graduated Pi Delta, with a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, OH in 1978. He then matriculated from a three-year Residency program in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Lindell Hospital in St. Louis, MO, 1978 -1981.

Dr. Visser is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He, therefore, has two board certifications. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Visser has served as President of the Missouri Podiatric Medical Association 1985-1988. He has also served as an examiner of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He currently serves on the Missouri State Board of Podiatric Medicine where he has been appointed by three governors: Governor Ashcroft 1988-1993, Governor Blunt 2005-2014, and Governor Nixon who reappointed him in 2014. He has been board president on 3 separate occasions. On May 17th, 2019 Dr. Visser performed the commencement address at the Kent State School of Podiatric Medicine in Kent Ohio.

Dr. Visser has been Director of Residency Training in Podiatric Surgery at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center since 1985. He also assumed the role of Director of Residency Training in Podiatric Surgery for DePaul SSM Health Center in 2012. He currently has 15 residents under his leadership role.

Dr. Visser is a member of the Faculty of the Department of Orthopedics of the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO.

Robert K. Duddy, DPM – Missouri Podiatrist

Board Qualified in Forefoot and Rearfoot Surgery

Certified in the STAR ankle replacement procedure

Dr. Robert Duddy graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1979, cum Laude. He then went to Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 1984, cum Laude, with multiple academic awards. He completed his medical and surgical residency training at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington, MO in 1986. He joined Mid-West Podiatry & Associates, LLC, in 1986.

Dr. Duddy holds a dual Diplomate status from the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He also maintains his Registration in pharmacy. Dr. Duddy is also a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Dr. Duddy has written several articles for nationally recognized medical journals. For the past 28 years, he has served as medical and surgical instructor for the residency program based at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. His interests lie in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, diabetic foot care, and pediatric foot and ankle care. As a runner, Dr. Duddy has a personal insight into athletic-related injuries.


Carmina Quiroga, DPM – Missouri Podiatrist

Dr. Carmina Quiroga, graduated with honors from the Texas Woman’s University, in Denton, Texas. She graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio after receiving academic Merit and Surgical Scholarships. Dr. Quiroga completed her medical and surgical residency training at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington, MO. She joined Mid-West Podiatry & Associates, LLC, in 1999.

Dr. Quiroga is a Diplomate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is also a Fellow of the American College Of Foot And Ankle Surgeons. Practicing in St. Louis and in several rural areas, Dr. Quiroga utilizes her expertise to enhance communities who are in need of her foot and ankle training. She also dedicates a portion of her time to seeing patients at Grace Hill Health Center. Dr. Quiroga is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Quiroga is presently the Assistant Director of the podiatric residency programs at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington, MO, and DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, MO, rendering state of the art foot and ankle training.

Jared J. Visser, DPM – Missouri Podiatrist

Dr. Jared Visser was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. He graduated from Mizzou in 2004 with a Bachelor in Science. He then went on to Podiatry school in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Jared Visser graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine) in 2008 with Honors. He then completed a 3-year comprehensive surgical residency at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, OH. After residency, he embarked on a reconstructive foot and ankle fellowship in Indianapolis, IN.

While in fellowship, he had extensive training in correcting foot and ankle deformities such as flat feet, cavus feet, ankle pathology, bunions, hammertoes, and trauma.

Dr. Visser is an active member and associate of The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association, and Missouri Podiatric Medical Association. He is board qualified in both Forefoot Surgery and Rearfoot Surgery. He is on staff at SSM St. Clare Hospital, SSM DePaul Hospital, Mercy Hospital Washington, and Mineral Area Hospital.


Shirley C. Visser, DPM – Missouri Podiatrist


Board Certified in Foot Surgery

Dr. Shirley Visser was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed her undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University. She graduated from LSU in 2004 with a Bachelor in Science. She then went on to Podiatry school in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Shirley Visser graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine) in 2008 with Honors. She then completed a 3-year comprehensive surgical residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.

While in residency, she served as part of a multidisciplinary team approach to limb salvage by performing surgical procedures to correct deformities, repair injuries, prevent amputation and improve function in diabetic and vasculopathologic patients. She is also trained in a vast array of the elective forefoot and rearfoot procedures to correct deformity and restore function.

Dr. Visser is an active member and associate of The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association, and Missouri Podiatric Medical Associations. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is on staff at SSM St. Clare Hospital – Fenton, SSM DePaul Hospital, and Mercy Hospital – Washington.

Christian J. Wunderlich, DPM – Missouri Podiatrist


Dr. Chris Wunderlich was born and raised in Kirkwood, MO. He is a 1974 graduate of Kirkwood High School. At Drury University in Springfield, MO., Dr. Wunderlich earned his BA in Biology and was a twelve-time All-American swimmer. He attended podiatry school at Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine (now Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine) in Chicago, IL.

Following his 1981 graduation, he completed a one-year surgical residency at Hugar Surgery Center/Loretto Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Upon completion of his studies, Dr. Wunderlich joined his father, the late Dr. Charles Wunderlich, in practice at Kirkwood Podiatry, Inc. They practiced together for seven years. Dr. Chris Wunderlich then continued as a solo practitioner until joining Mid-West Podiatry & Associates, LLC in March 2018.

Due to his continuing participation in a variety of sports, Dr. Wunderlich enjoys helping others to be as active as possible. He is especially interested in foot biomechanics. Throughout his career, he has helped train podiatric surgical residents.

Dr. Wunderlich has served the Missouri Podiatric Medical Association in a number of leadership roles during his career.

He is on staff at Des Hospital, St. Louis, MO.


Dr. Brittany R. Staples, DPM


Dr. Staples was born in Los Angeles, CA, and was raised in Denver, CO. She graduated from the University of Colorado, earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in psychology and a minor in chemistry. She attended the Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California for her medical schooling where she held the position of both class president, as well as student body president over the 9 health professions colleges comprising the university.

Dr. Staples attended her medical and surgical residency training in St. Louis at SSM DePaul Hospital under the directorship of Drs. Visser and Quiroga, where she received comprehensive forefoot and rearfoot/ankle reconstructive surgical training. She held the position of Chief Resident in her third year at DePaul. She is currently surgically board qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and will sit for her American Board of Podiatric Medicine qualification/certification exam later this year.

She has been published in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as Podiatry Today and published multiple ACFAS literature reviews. She will be on staff at SSM DePaul Hospital and SSM St. Clare Hospital.
